Hello IGRers, I would like to invite you to join in planning a cool new event. At Jay Moore’s suggestion, we’re putting together an interfaith forum at Martin Luther University College, in Waterloo. The idea is to hold an on-campus event to bring IGR closer to our large regional student population, showcase diverse religious voices, and hold an event that will be meaningful to the community.
Tentatively, we’re exploring the idea of a forum on religion and environmental justice (but we’re open to other great ideas as well). Our subcommittee membership so far is Jeff Wilson of IGR and Hilla Lathtinen, who is the Program Coordinator of MLUC’s Christianity, Interfaith Dialogue and Community Engagement program. There’s plenty of room on the subcommittee, so we would love it if at least one more IGR member would volunteer to serve. I’ve asked Hilla to identify additional MLUC faculty or staff to join us as well.
We’re hoping that the event will occur this winter, perhaps in March, though if the schedule necessitates we might shoot for an early spring event. Anyone is welcome to contribute to the subcommittee, so if you’ve got ideas or experiences in event planning, interfaith forums, campus culture, environmental justice, or just want to be helpful, we’d be happy for your participation.
