Thanksgiving Event

The second annual Interfaith Grand River Thanksgiving event (on Sunday 18th October) was a great success. There were guests from several different faith traditions, lots of activities, and delicious food.

We had banners representing 8 different faith traditions (Buddhism, Christianity, Earth-based traditions, Hinduism, Indigenous spirituality, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism), fall-themed decorations, a display of interfaith books and posters, a jigsaw activity, discussion cards, some activity boards, and a mixer / icebreaker activity.

The mixer activity got people to talk to each other who didn't already know each other, and people also moved around to get food, look at the exhibits, and talk to friends old and new.

On the activity boards was an invitation for people to write "love" and "peace in their own language or alphabet, and to write something they are thankful for, or that they hope for in the next year.

The event was very convivial and was attended by local politicians, and members of the Baháʼí, Buddhist, Jewish, Lutheran, Muslim, Pagan, Roman Catholic, Seventh-day Adventist, Unitarian, United Church, and Unity Church communities (I think that's everyone, apologies if I missed anyone).
